I was reading an interview. The interviewee wrote that her first projects was two sweaters. She knitted them at the same time. She went on to say that "knitting a useless mile long scarf is boring." I've been reading that people's first project is a sweater. I am soo proud of them. Really, I am.
However, I like knitting scarves. In fact I am so excited about finishing my current project...a scarf. Right now I feel comfortable making is scarves and hats. Which is ok by me.
I am here to tell you that your first project should be something you feel comfortable making. Often it's discouraging to make a lengthy project. Discouragement is not what you really need while learning to knit. Don't try to impress your knitting group/friends. :)
I agree and I don't believe anyone made a sweater as a newbie knitter. You want to build confidence and finish something. That's the way to do it girl!
