Waste to Energy

Not only the third and finally bus stop but the biggest BS (pardon el French) I have ever came across.

So the more garabage I produce, the more energy I get? Ok. It's ok because Kent County has pretty strict standards.

I took a lot of pictures with my cell phone. Just have to figure out how to get them onto a working computer. Keyword: working.

The plant has a tipping floor. Garbage trucks back up into this "pit" and dump the garbage here.
NOTE: only a handful of cities use this facility.
Then a crane operator takes the garabage (with a crane!) and takes bucket load of dirty trash into a hopper. The hopper feeds the incinerator and burns the trash. The heat from the burning trash creates steam, the steam turns the generator and makes energy.

Although, it's cleaner then burning coal don't try to fool me with this whole concept.

When it comes to trash, we ALL need to be reducing, reducing and more reducing.
It's an eye opening experience to be able to tour the waste management facilities. "This is where my trash goes and this is how I am ruining the environment."
