Shopping Trip

For the first time in a while I didn't use coupons during my grocery shopping trip. According to my receipt I only saved $4.45. I got a few things that were on sale and/or clearance. I got what I wanted and needed. Yes, potato chips were BOGO. But I only wanted one bag, so I only one bag of really good quality chips. It's worth it to me from a health stand point (because potato chips will never be healthy) to get one small bag of good quality chips. It's worth it to me to get high quality beer and alcohol. I compensate in other ways.

I told my husband I need to go to Costco to get more toilet paper. I also told my husband I would love to buy Cottonelle toilet paper ("because of the talking and singing Golden Retriever puppies"*) but it's expensive-ish. He reply that I should get another job if I want to buy Cottonelle tp (as well as high quality food items.**) I think I will stick to Costco brand tp and get my bag high quality 'tator chips.

Later in life this philosophy might come to haunt me. For now it works. Checks and balance concept can never really go wrong.

*Andrew also thinks I should write the marketing campaign people. "Because the talking puppies I want to buy this brand of tp."

**He never really said that. But I think it makes sense with our living habits and $ we make that we can afford one higher quality but not two.
