Although I am on chapter 21 of 27 I can say this book is so good. No words can really express how great this book is. The author, David Sheff, won awards for his contribution/writing in helping others understand addictions.
In the book, Mr Sheff's son is addicted to all sorts of drugs...weed, cocaine and meth. The book focuses on meth. In one chapter Sheff explains the harmful effects, both direct and indirect, of meth. He explains that meth ingredients are relatively easy to obtain...cough medication, brake cleaner. For just $30 plus s&h you can get a how-to make meth book online. Sheff writes that meth is, "the devil's drug." There is a list for people (police, medical personnel, etc) who come across a "high" meth user. Users get paranoid very quickly and there are things to avoid doing...rapid movements, shining lights.
As you can see I am learning a lot by reading this book.
The author intervenes his family story within all learning of drugs. It's a painful story, one that will make you cry and laugh. But it's a great book.
I really recommend reading this book. Along with All Alone in the World: Children of the Incarcerated.
gonna read it. Thanks for the review.
