Friday

Today is Friday. Today is grocery shopping day. Today, I got something very interesting, so interesting that I'd never think to cook with it. Today, I bought smoked ham hocks. Ham hocks is totally foreign and exotic to me. I remember my mom buying them for the dog at the farm store. Ham hocks WAS and IS not for cooking, or at least in my world. Ok, so maybe my mom did cook with ham hocks, but CLEARLY I don't remember any incident where she did. THUS, I'm excited to be making Ham Hock and Chick Pea Stew. Looks easy and healthy enough.

This whole week has exciting. I spent all, but $16, of my Christmas money. I have wanted some cute black shoes (with a small heel) for a while. Black shoes with a heel is kind of a staple in any female's wardrobe, right? I mean you can't wear slacks with tennis shoes and expect to look classy.

Beside finding shoes, I finally got the money to invest in Gap denim. Ok, I know the jeans were probably made in a sweat shop and are totally overpriced. But seriously, this brand is the only brand that a) fit me b) are true and timeless. These jeans are so comfy and fit so well. The pair I purchased replace the ones I got in...high school (so, they're older then 3 years).

Another fun "thing" that happened this week...
My good friend has been madly working on a book for the past few years. She got a contract (right?) with Tyndale and being a "ghost writing" up until now, this is a big deal...not only for her, but for her friends and family. This week (up until release day)...the book is "out" for pre-sale. *sigh*

  1. I am so proud of her for writing that book!! The cover is gorgeous...
Ham hocks make great pea soup as well. Of course we save the good stuff for the dogs.
Happy new years to your blog honey. I love it.
