New technique

Being young and never really having to cook myself, every new culinary technique is very exciting to me.

The other day, I needed to cook some chicken. In the past, if I wanted to make chicken salad (something), I would saute the chicken. After research, I decided to try poaching.

You're probably laughing at me.

*clears throat*
Procedure of poaching according to me:
1) Fill a large pot with water (or other liquid...chicken stock)
2) Put (defrosted) chicken breasts until large pot of water. Turn stove on to med-low heat. You want the water to be barely boiling...just little bubbles. Boiling will make the chicken tough.
3) I leave my chickens in hot water for 15-20 minutes.
The whole thing turned out really well (for a first timer)! The chicken turns out really juicy.

I know there is poached eggs and other poached food items. But this whole "poached chicken" thing is new to me.

I went grocery shopping on Friday this week. Usually I work Friday nights but the Heritage is closed for the next month, which means no work for me! (Bittersweet, really. Paid hourly and no work=no $ in my pocket). I got bored VERY quickly this past Friday, so off to Meijer I went.

Looking at my receipt there are no deals really worth noting. Maybe next time.
