Am in a yoga class, right? Just so happens that the instructor is also a health coach. So, the class is much more than moving around and doing whatever yoga calls for. We must make a health orientated goal, write them down and achieve them.
I was astonished that many students didn't know how to make a real, good goal. During my little Cornerstone University "gig," I took a whole class on goals (as well as leadership and other fun stuff). We, students, were taught about SMART goals. See above.
SMART is really easy to remember. It does take some (habit forming) time to really get the hang of making SMART goals. At first I even wrote my goal on paper. It's become so second nature, that I can make a SMART goal in a jiffy. If the goal is reallly long term...I write it down.
Remember that goals have an ending. Objectives are long term.
In your goal--be as specific as possible. When you're going to do it, how much/many, how?
Goal: do 20 crunches every M-W-Friday at 8am for 2 weeks. Objective: I want ripped abs.
Be smart and make SMART goals! :)
