I LOVE this idea. I love strike on matches because they are so elegant and vintage.
Step 1:
Find a jar (with a two part lid) you like. Transfer matches to jar or set aside. If you just need one jar, you may be able to find something at your local thrift/vintage store. I find Bell jars so versatile I always buy them by the case.
2: Grab your empty box of matches. Cut out the strike-on part and cut strip to fit the side of jar. I cut the last third strike-on strip off to fit side of my pint size jar.
3: Hot glue (or non-flammable adhesive) the strip to the side of jar. Put matches in jar.
Right now my match jar is sitting near (yet keeping a safe distance from) my favorite candle.
