- Stocking up. Basically you buy a lot of a certain item, say, instant macaroni and cheese when it's on sale and it's cheap. Right now, I have 1.5 year old mac and cheese in my cupboard that I know will never be eaten. A real sale? Not really.
- Clipping coupons for items you haven't used/heard of. Maybe I'm just brain washed and brand loyal..or picky. Or whatever. I usually clip coupons for items that I need and/or items I know I am going to use in the near future. Because space is limited and see #1.

So often the coupons are for very processed foods..have you noticed that? Veggies, meat and cheese and fruit don't have coupons, just name brand products and often you can just buy the store brand of that stuff..(Like paper towels).
