As long as I've been working here, the local Speedway has become my snack haven. The "healthy choices" are a bit limited. But today I picked up a Cheerio and Milk Cereal bar. At 40 calories from fat and little sugar (as opposed to a Snickers bar, which I REALLY wanted), this little bar is amazingly good. But really not worth $.69. I can buy a bag of store brand cereal for (almost) that much!
Although I have to wait until next week to get ingredients, I eagerly wait testing these out.
Cheerio Bars
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. honey
3 c. Cheerios cereal
1 c. salted peanuts
Bring sugar and honey to a boil in large saucepan. Remove from heat, stir in peanut butter until blended. Pour in cheerios and peanuts and mix until well coated. Press mixture into buttered 13x9x2-in. baking dish. Let cool and cut into squares.
NOTE: I'll probably reduce the sugar. My sweet taste buds/tooth are a little overdeveloped.
