Not the weatherman.
No one.
I think that's what makes life interesting and fun. When we're young teenagers, we can't predict how our grown up life will be. Will we be fat? Obese? Skinny?
I am a believer in "choosing your our destiny." That being said, we might not be able to predict the future, we can try to control it...in ways. Take food for example. To illustrate this example, I'll tell a true story...
Andrew and myself are really getting into the Biggest Loser. Although, I'm not overweight, I find enjoyment out of people who chose to be healthy and work hard to maintain that lifestyle. Eating and being healthy is MY lifestyle. It's so second nature to me. While I do eat fast food, it's usually a kids' meal or a single burger and a small french fry. I can't imagine myself eating something larger than "small." It's my blood. ALL that being said...
So, we're watching BL and I started to get really excited that these people are "waking up." I also got mad that some contestants were being really whiny about some of the exercises that had to do. It didn't look THAT hard. I realized that this is a brand new lifestyle for them.
After a while, Andrew said they should have a show, "The Biggest Gainer." Where skinny people try to gain weight. I said,
"I couldn't do it. I don't know how to be not healthy. My whole life has been 'healthy-ish'".
All of my life, I weighed somewhere between 125-130 pounds, but never, ever over 130.
So, I guess I am basically saying...if you want your kid to be healthy growing up, install those values sooner rather than later. Buying "expensive" (*rolls eyes* it's not THAT expensive) foods is totally worth in the end.
"An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
"An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
*I understand that there's people who are "naturally" big boned or whatever the politically correct term is. I'm talking about obesity that's preventable.
**A great article about obesity and evolution. If you don't believe in evolution...just know that you can still believe in it and still be a Christian.
