Study Tips

First of all, Nestle has voluntarily recalled some of its cat foods. Read about it. Thankfully, it's only in a number of states (mostly out West) and a limited number of products are being recalled (Friskies and Cat Chow brand). My cats eat Purina One, so all is good.

Secondly, today I have been married to Andrew for 2 years.

Lastly, I just got back from a Starbucks study session. I kept thinking about some of my study habits. I think some of them are worth mentioning...
  • When using a highlighter only highlight important words. Example--in the sentence, "A favorable balance of trade, or trade surplus, occurs when the value of a country's exports exceeds that of its imports."
  • Use index cards. If your local warehouse club (Costco, Sam's Club) sells 'um in large quantities, buy them. I make flashcards for every. single. chapter. There are 16 chapters in the book.
  • Bring said flashcards where ever you go. Waiting for the bus? Or movie to start?
  • Use different colored markers/pens for each chapter. Or put a the chapter # in the corner of the flashcard/notes. If you are studying for a test and don't quite understand something, you know where to look for said term.
  • Use Wikipedia or other reliable internet sources to help you understand the term/ideas. Also, write out the definition in words you can understand.
  • While studying, take small breaks. Every "expert" will probably recommend this, but it really helps. While getting a glass of water, I'll ask myself what a trade surplus is.
