"I adopted your dog today" poem

My version:

"I adopted your dog today...
The one you dumped
The one you over bred for years and no longer produces top notch pups
And no longer wanted.

I adopted your dog today..
Did you know he lost weight?
He had fleas and a little cold
Guess you didn't care what shape he's in
-you abandoned him I am told.

I adopted your dog today...
Was he no good for you?
Did  you want some one better?

I adopted your dog today...
He doesn't eat much and really playful
His color is rare and he's super smart.

I adopted your dog today...
He likes Kong toys and has made many friends
He has a warm comfy bed
He's found his forever home.

I adopted your dog today...
And shall give him all that he will need
Patience, love and security
So he can forget your selfish deed."

I'm pretty sure people adopt dogs everyday. I think my dog is pretty special and I'm sure most people think their dogs are pretty special. I'm sure this "new dog" will wear off soon. But this dog give me his heart and I give him mine and will continue to do so as long as he lives. This dog taught me more about puppy mills than I could have ever read/see on the news.

Before getting a dog (or puppy), remember that all dogs require patience, love and security. I can tell you first hand that it does no one good when you surrounded your dog to the shelter. peace.
