Not sure if I wrote a blog entry on this, or not. If I have, consider yourselves lucky...
We're still unpacking.
And still sorting through stuff and deciding what throw, keep and donate.
Fortunately, our "donate" pile is really big. I'll have to make two trips to the thrift store to "purge" it all.
Today I loaded up my car with donate-ables and got to thinkin' about the best thrift store. Supposedly...
-Goodwill is expensive and throws away perfectly good stuff.
-Salvation Army is anti-gay.
While we at it...
-I can't buy Girl Scout cookies because GS teaches about Planned Parenthood.
-I can't shop there, here, blah blah blah because of this, that or this.
Ya know what...
If Goodwill employs a disabled person and my donation helps people learn skills, my donation is worth it.
If Salvation Army gives someone a place to sleep (even if they do discriminate), it's worth it.
Even if Girl Scout's learn about choices...adoption or abortion, it's worth it.
I rather spend my energy making a positive difference in the world, than be the [type of] person who spends massive amounts of time and energy into nit-picking these organizations and businesses.
